6 Questions With Venture Philly:

Jamie Dumoff Shares Her Favorites, Real Estate Advice, & Info For New Residents to Philadelphia.

Meet Jamie.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and have lived in Philadelphia for over 8 years. I have spent most of my time living in Old City and have lived in Northern Liberties and University City. I have spent a lot of time getting familiar with the different neighborhoods in Philadelphia. If you need a bar or restaurant recommendation I'm your go to!

What is your favorite Philadelphia neighborhood and why?

I’m a little biased but my favorite neighborhood in Philadelphia is Old City. It’s where I have spent most of my time in Philadelphia and is where I have met so many great people and have had many memorable experiences. Besides its historic charm, Old City is known for its great restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries. It has something to offer for everyone!

Why did you decide you wanted to get into the real estate business?

I’ve always been fascinated by real estate, especially living in the city for more than 8 years exploring different neighborhoods and watching development in certain areas. Within this industry you never stop learning, you're constantly adapting to new trends and changing markets. Each experience teaches you something new, which helps you educate future buyers and sellers. My passion for connecting people also led me to pursue a career in real estate!

If you were to buy an investment property in 2021 and plan on selling in 2026, which neighborhood would you target and why?

I would target Olde Kensington! It’s very accessible being located within walking distance to public transportation as well as being close to 95. There is also a lot of development in that area and a lot of new restaurants and cafes popping up, which attracts future residents. It borders Fishtown, which is considered to be one of Philly's hottest neighborhoods. It’s also within walking distance to many restaurants and bars located in Northern Liberties and Fishtown.

If you were entertaining an out of town guest who has never been to Philadelphia before, what restaurant would you take them to first?

I would take them to Royal Boucherie because it is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. They serve fresh oysters and French inspired cuisine. They also have a secret beautiful rooftop garden, which makes for great ambiance.

When you're not assisting clients with their real estate needs, what do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I love traveling and meeting new people. I also love keeping up with Philadelphia's restaurant scene and exploring new spots . I enjoy spending time with my Husky Sky and taking her to the dog park!

One piece of advice you would give a first time home buyer before starting the process?

Make sure you do your research and have a set plan in place. Before getting set on a home and wanting to put an offer in, make sure that you have explored different mortgage options. Also if you have a chance, I suggest becoming familiar with the current market so you know what to expect when buying a home.
