Part of Lower Merion Township, in Delaware County, Bryn Mawr is home to far more than just Bryn Mawr College. just west of Philadelphia along Lancaster Avenue and the border of Delaware County, Bryn Mawr is a lively neighborhood bursting with arts and culture, outdoor spaces, and delicious restaurants and cafés.

Why We Love It

Bryn Mawr College has brought, and continues to bring, a large population of young adults, many of whom remain in Bryn Mawr post-graduation, or often times move into Philadelphia. Bryn Mawr is charming, historic, and welcoming to families and young-adults alike. With a number of attractions like the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, and the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market, this neighborhood is community oriented and full of historic charm.

Neighborhood Feel

Living in Bryn Mawr offers residents an urban feel and many residents rent their homes, however there are a significant number of single-family homes! In Bryn Mawr there are plenty of delicious of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks to explore. Many young professionals live in Bryn Mawr and easily commute to Philadelphia for work.

An incredibly popular local favorite, Xolo Tacos, offers the most authentic Mexican cuisine on the Main Line with fresh ingredients and the best tasting Margaritas! Tango Restaurant, just off the train tracks, serves of contemporary American cuisine with a beautiful outdoor dining space open during the summers! Other local favorites include Lourdas Greek Taverna, and Manayunk’s The Couch Tomato Café & Bistro!

Arts and Culture

A beautiful and historic site, the Harriton House hosts an array of events year-round, including classes on historical practices such as woodturning, blacksmithing, and bookbinding! Less than 5 minutes from Bryn Mawr, the Main Line Art Center also hosts classes and workshops, and multiple exhibitions including COVID-19 friendly online galleries!

Local Parks

The nearby Sharpe Park & Bird Sanctuary is a wonderful local destination for an afternoon stroll, with over two acres of quiet pathways to explore. The Haverford Arboretum is a beautiful green space to take in, with guides and virtual tours of every tree and pathway, and Ashbridge Park is a wonderful family-friendly place to relax!
