Here’s Your Guide to Holiday Events in Philadelphia in 2022

Happy Thanksgiving! The kickoff to the holiday season is here. This is the time to reflect on what we’re grateful for and all of the blessings we have. Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thursday, November 24, 2022 | 8:30 a.m. to Noon

The kickoff to holiday festivities is the 6abc/Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway! This is the nation’s oldest Thanksgiving Day parade. The parade features floats, live performances, dancers, balloons and even a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus.

 

Black Friday & Small Business Saturday

Friday, November 25, 2022 & Saturday, November 26, 2022

Shop til you drop and take advantage of the Black Friday deals! Then make sure to support local on Small Business Saturday. There are plenty of places to shop including big brand name stores, local shops and boutiques and pop up shops in holiday markets and villages.

 

Christmas Village at Love Park

November 19, 2022 through December 24, 2022

This epic Christmas Village is filled with more than 100 wooden booths with vendors selling local and international goods like ornaments, accessories, clothes, food and beverages & more. Plus, over near City Hall, there are more vendors and a double-decker carousel and Ferris Wheel!

Winter at Dilworth Park

November 1st through March 26, 2023

Dilworth Park is transformed into a winter wonderland! Here you’ll find an ice skating rink, a ski-chalet inspired pop-up cabin with seasonal cocktails and food, a holiday market with local makers, and a lights show!

November 16, 2022 through February 26, 2022

In Franklin Square during the holidays, you’ll find an incredible light show with more than 150,000 lights! The show is every 30 minutes from 5 to 9 pm. Plus there’s tons of food, drinks, fire pits, heated tents and mini-golf and a carousel.

Tree Lighting Celebration

This annual tradition invites residents and visitors to see the tree in front of City Hall light up with more than 4,000 lights!

 

LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo

November 17, 2022 through January 7, 2023

The Philadelphia Zoo is turned into a winter wonderland with more than a dozen illuminating and interactive experiences like a 21 foot tall colored snake, 15-foot tall glowing blue gorilla and an under the sea inspired holiday tree. This is a great activity for kids! Buy tickets ahead.

 

A Longwood Christmas at Longwood Gardens

November 18, 2022 through January 8, 2023

The famous Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square transforms into a holiday dream with a Longwood Christmas. This year’s theme is The Art of Christmas. Enjoy a dazzling light show with sparkling trees, enchanting treehouses and outdoor light displays. Tickets are required.

 

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest

Opens for the Season on November 25, 2022

Go ice skating on the Delaware River waterfront! This is the city’s largest outdoor rink with cozy cabins, fire pits, dazzling lights and a holiday tree.

 

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular

November 24, 2022 through january 1, 2023

The Comcast Center’s annual LED holiday show on a huge video wall is back for another year in the lobby of the Comcast building. There are 15-minute shows every hour on the hour with performances from the Pennsylvania Ballet with holiday songs and a sleigh ride over the city.

 

Miracle on South 13th Street

December 1 through December 31, 2022

This classic South Philly tradition is an epic display of decorated homes along the 1600 block of South 13th Street. The neighborhoods go above and beyond with their decorations that are illuminated every night! For the month of December from 5 to 11 pm, take a stroll down the street and enjoy one of Philly’s favorite community holiday displays!

Boathouse Row Festival of Lights

December 18, 2022 through January 1, 2023

Boathouse Row lights up with festive holiday colors for Hanukkah on December 18 - 23, 2022 and Christmas December 24-25, 2022, and Kwanzaa December 26, 2022 – January 1, 2023. You can watch the show from Fairmount Water Works or on the Schuylkill River Trail just off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

 

New Year’s Eve Firework Show

End the year with a bang with two big fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve. Location is TBD.

If there is one Philadelphia tradition you do not want to miss, this is it! The New Year’s Day tradition dates back to 1901 and is an epic parade with 10,000 people dancing through the streets of Philly along Broad Street from City Hall to Washington Avenue.
