6 Questions With Venture Philly:

Matt English Shares His Philly Favorites, Real Estate Advice, & Info For New Residents to Philadelphia.

Meet Matt.

Matt grew up in Delaware County, PA, and has lived in Philadelphia for the past 4 years. After beginning his professional career in the insurance industry, he transitioned into the utility sector. Throughout his career, he has always placed a high value on building meaningful relationships with customers and colleagues, and he is eager to bring this quality to his real estate profession. Whenever he has some free time, you can catch him hanging with friends back home or at one of his go-to spots in Philly - Chick’s, Founding Fathers, or Stogie Joe’s. He also enjoys Philly sports, cooking, working out, playing golf (still a work in progress), and spending time with his twin nieces, Sophia & Claire, and his dog Hank. The area in real estate he wants to focus on is helping first time homebuyers, by guiding them through the significant investment of homeownership. His ultimate goal is to provide a stress-free and unforgettable home-buying experience, leaving his clients feeling confident and excited about their purchase decision!

What is your favorite Philadelphia neighborhood and why?

Graduate Hospital. I’ve lived there for the past year, so I might be biased, but it offers the best of both worlds: a quiet and laid-back neighborhood with easy access to all the action and excitement that Philly has to offer, all within a short walking distance.

Why did you decide you wanted to get into the real estate business?

I’ve always been drawn to the real estate industry for its constantly evolving nature and the opportunities it provides. The job’s creative problem-solving aspect and the satisfaction of helping clients find their dream homes are what excite me about it. I’m deeply committed to helping people and thrilled to be part of this dynamic and rewarding industry.

If you were to buy an investment property in 2023 and plan on selling in 2028, which neighborhood would you target and why?

I would target Fishtown. It’s a fun and exciting neighborhood that has undergone significant expansion over the last few years, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Available Fishtown Properties:

If you were entertaining an out of town guest who has never been to Philadelphia before, what restaurant would you take them to first?

As a self-proclaimed food connoisseur, Dante & Luigi’s would be my pick - an old-school Italian spot with a great atmosphere, excellent service, and some of the best food in Philly.

When you're not assisting clients with their real estate needs, what do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I enjoy hanging with friends to watch a game, exploring the Philly restaurant scene with my fiancé, binge-watching a show, and taking walks around the city with my one-year-old rescue dog, Hank. In fact, I’m proud to have become a regular at Segar Dog Park!

One piece of advice you would give a first time home buyer before starting the process?

Take the time to research and carefully choose a team that you trust and feel comfortable working with. The agent-buyer relationship is one of the most important aspects of the process, so be sure to select an agent who makes you feel heard and supported.
