Get To Know Queen Village

Queen Village, spanning from Delaware River-6th Street to South St.-Washington Ave, is named for the Queen of Sweden and is home to a wonderful combination of playgrounds and gardens, making it a welcoming neighborhood for families and young folks alike. The local elementary school, The William M. Meredith Elementary School, serves over 400 students from Kindergarten-8th grade, and has an incredibly active Home and School Association, which provides support and financial resources for their students and community members. From annual festivals to quiet shopping trips, Queen Village has no shortage of amenities and activities for its residents.

Why We Love It: One of the first neighborhoods in Philadelphia, it is home to an eclectic mix of historical sites, modern shops, and delicious restaurants.

Whether you’re looking to explore Philly’s historic locations, or looking for the right vinyl to complete your collection, Queen Village is the perfect family friendly location. Explore Queen Village’s Fabric Row, where, for generations, fabric vendors have set up shop. Family owned businesses remain on this iconic street, alongside restaurants, bars, and quirky shops (you can find a full list of vendors on Fabric Row here!). The Annual South St. Spring Festival, a foodies dream-come-true, brings together a collective of artists, vendors, restaurants, and makers every year, between 2nd and 8th streets. The event is free of charge, and all are welcome to take in the sights and discover local businesses and cultures. While you’re exploring Fabric Row, be sure to stop by one of our favorite restaurants, Gnocchi, for a dinner you won’t forget! After a brief hiatus, chef and owner Sandro Frusone is back in Queen Village running his traditional Italian restaurant where among other staples like parmigianas and antipastos, they serve, you guessed it, Gnocchi! Check out their Facebook page for updates on hours, and find their menu here!
