Take a Trip - Callowhill

Known as Philadelphia’s Loft District, Callowhill is a neighborhood on the rise. Old factory buildings have been converted into stunning loft-style apartments, offering residents modern and exciting options for homes, and the neighborhood is packed with bars, galleries, and a rapidly growing restaurant scene.

Why We Love It

Opposite Broad Street from Fairmount and Spring Garden, Callowhill is a neighborhood where creative blood flows. A historically industrial section of Philadelphia, Callowhill is now defined by its loft-style apartment and spacious units, unlike the typical Philadelphia row-home neighborhoods. Callowhill allows residents the ease of living within walking distance of some of Philly’s best attractions, paired with the ease of spacious homes and quiet streets.

Neighborhood Feel

Constantly on the rise, Callowhill is packed with live music venues, bars, restaurants, and a welcoming community of predominantly young-professionals. Weekends in Callowhill are always exciting, with street-side performances, new pop-up restaurants, and tons of local favorites to fill your time!

Our Favorite Restaurants

Among the best in Callowhill, the Prohibition Taproom is known for their comfort food, craft beers, ciders and cocktails, as is Triple Bottom Brewing, a locally owned and operated brewery. Cafe Lift, a must-try brunch spot, serves up delicious classics like eggs Benedict and French toast, or exciting options like lemon ricotta pancakes.

Arts and Culture

The Khmer Art Gallery has a wonderful collection of works, as well as an online collection which can be browsed from home! Underground Arts, a live music and performance venue, regularly hosts independent musicians, poets, notable bands, and more for live events.

Local Parks

In Callowhill, Phase one of the Rail Park is well underway, with a 1/4 mile stretch of elevated park spanning from 1300 Noble Street up onto the Viaduct, and is open daily 7am-10pm. Not too far from the Callowhill neighborhood, Franklin Square is a perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon outside.

Schools

Callowhill is serviced by Spring Garden Elementary and Middle School, and Benjamin Franklin High School. You can find out more about area schools here or by searching on the District website here!
